Annual Family Fourth of July Celebration

Lions Club Fishing Rodeo

The annual fishing rodeo is Saturday, July 4, at Municipal Park Lake from 9 to 11 a.m. Bring rod, tackle and bait. Donationa will be accepted to benefit the charitable work of the Lions Club. Contact Michelle McDonnell at 757-7382 or mmcdonnell@germantown-tn.gov.

Fireworks Extravaganza

Musical entertainment, games, moon bounces and crafts provide the early evening fun, followed by a fabulous fireworks display. Concessions will be available for purchase. The free event is Saturday, July 4, at Municipal Park on Exeter Road. Activities begin at 5 p.m., fireworks at 9:10 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, call 751-KNOW (5669) for event status.

Road Closures

Several roads will be closed in connection with Fourth of July activities. On Saturday, July 4, Exeter Road, from Farmington Blvd. to Neshoba Road, will close at 2 p.m.  Farmington Blvd., from Germantown Road to Exeter Road, will close at 5 p.m. Neshoba Road, from Germantown Road to Boulinwood, will close at 5 p.m.  Roads will open late in the evening at the conclusion of the fireworks extravaganza.

Sassy is the Germantown Animal Shelter pet of the week. She is a playful four month old lab-mix.

This pet and others are available for adoption at the Germantown Animal Shelter, 7700 Southern Avenue. The shelter is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, contact the shelter at 757-7358.

Books by Mail

Books by Mail is a free library service for homebound seniors who live in Germantown. Library materials will be delivered to the homebound in a canvas mailbag by the US Postal Service. All mailing costs will be paid by the library.

The Germantown Public Safety Education Commission has established a bureau of speakers for clubs, civic organizations, neighborhood associations and other group meetings.

Topics include Safety City, Emergency Assistance for Veterans, Fire Safety in the Home, Home Safety, Myth Versus Truth, Safe Use of the Internet and Home Security.

Wolf River Boulevard Extension
Wolf River Boulevard will be extended between Farmington Boulevard and Kimbrough Road.
