Safety City
Safety City will be held June 2 through 6 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Germantown Church of Christ, 8723 Poplar Pike.
Safety City is a safety education program for children ages 5 or 6 who are entering kindergarten or first grade. Enrollment is limited to 125 children. Topics include fire safety, animal safety, weather safety, bicycle safety, gun safety, home safety, seat belt safety, pool safety, and home safety.
The registration fee is $45. Applications are available at Germantown Athletic Club, Municipal Center and most area pre-schools. Download an application.

Hazardous Waste Facility
The new Shelby County Household Hazardous Waste facility is open to the public Tuesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Well Installation Closes Disc Golf Course
Due to the installation of a water well at the Johnson Road Well Field, the disc golf course at Johnson Road Park, 2970 Johnson Road, is closed.
Layne Central will install the well at a depth of 700 feet. The work is part of the Johnson Road Water Treatment Plant expansion project that will increase daily water production and storage capacity for the City of Germantown.
Water production at the Johnson Road water plant will increase from 6 million to 12 million gallons per day. The expansion project is expected to last two years.
City Has New Web Name
Residents who make utility payments on-line, are advised to make a note of the new City website name, www.germantown-tn.gov. The previous website name has been discontinued.
It's a good idea to save the new address to your favorites, especially for those who make on-line utility payments.

Germantown Parks and Recreation Joins National Initiative to Make Communities Safe
Germantown Parks and Recreation has joined Operation TLC2 Making Communities Safe, a national initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association, and will work with a firm dedicated to thorough background checks and training consulting.

Wolf River Boulevard will be extended between Farmington Boulevard and Kimbrough Road.
