Get Rid of Unwanted or Expired Prescriptions at GPD Drug Take Back Event

Post Date:04/20/2017

The Germantown Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration to collect unwanted prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 29. Bring medications for disposal to Kroger, 7735 Farmington Boulevard or Target, 9235 Poplar Avenue. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. No aerosol inhalers, liquids, needles or sharps will be accepted. Pills and patches are welcome.

In October 2016, Americans turned in 366 tons (over 730,000 pounds) of prescription drugs at almost 5,200 sites operated by the DEA and more than 4,000 of its state and local law enforcement partners.  Overall, in its 12 previous Take Back events, DEA and its partners have taken in over 7.1 million pounds—more than 3,500 tons—of pills.

For more information contact Germantown Police Captain Mike Gray at 901-757-7331, MGray@Germantown-TN.gov, or DEA Diversion website.
