Parks and Facilities

Germantown has two dozen parks, sports complexes and other green spaces, covering more than 700 acres of recreational land. They provide athletic fields and courts, picnic areas, biking/walking trails playgrounds and facilities reflecting a Parks and Recreation department goal of placing recreational and leisure opportunities within a half mile of every home.

Visiting Germantown Parks
•   Pets must be on a leash at all times in all parks, sports complexes, the Wolf River Nature Area and
along the Greenway. By City ordinance, pet owners are responsible for removing animal waste.
•   Parks are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. unless otherwise posted or when sanctioned activities
    require extended hours.
•   Safe parks are important in Germantown. Park rangers patrol and provide community information
at every park location. If you need help, have a question or just want to have a friendly chat with a
ranger about trees, wildlife or native plants, look for the uniformed park ranger in the marked “Park
Ranger” vehicles. Police also patrol within and around the parks. For concerns regarding the parks,
    call (901) 757-7375.
For emergencies in parks, call 911.

Winter Tennis and Restroom Schedule
The Germantown parks and recreation department has implemented the winter tennis light schedule and some restrooms and water fountains have been shut down for the season. Those playing tennis after dark may use the courts at C.O. Franklin Park, Johnson Road Park or Municipal Park.
Public restrooms in parks will remain available at Cameron-Brown, Houston Levee, C.O. Franklin, Johnson Road Pavilion, Municipal Park and the west Greenway. All sports facility restrooms and park water fountains have been shut down for the winter. For more information, e-mail Natalie Ruffin or call (901) 757-7375.

Adopt-A-Park Program
Neighborhood parks and municipal properties must be routinely patrolled, policed and enhanced. Safe, clean, attractive, litter-free outdoor areas are imperative to the assurance or quality of life experiences for everyone in the community. Though the department provides routine maintenance for all of these areas and facilities, the staff and resources are never enough to achieve the highest level of maintenance. This is where supplementation from volunteers and the development of ownership of these sites creates a win-win situation for all--the public, the park users, the volunteer groups and the Parks and Recreation department. If you have a group or business that is interested in becoming a partner with the City, e-mail Pam Beasley or call (901) 757-7375. You really can make a difference.
