Sharon Goldsworthy is serving her fourth four-year term as mayor of Germantown. First elected as an alderman in 1992, she was elected mayor in 1994 and was re-elected in 1998, 2002 and 2006.

In addition to overseeing the administration of city government by professional staff, Goldsworthy serves or participates in local, regional and state organizations.

She is serving a third four-year term on the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations and she served five years on the State Air Pollution Control Board, in both positions representing the interests of municipalities across the state. She was a member of the Governor's Council on Excellence in Higher Education. She is chair of the metro area Clean Air Coalition, member of the Metro Area Stormwater Steering Committee Phase II, member of the Chickasaw Basin Authority, member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Planning Board, member of the Regional Rail Steering Committee, and a member of the Metropolitan Economic Development Forum.

She is an active member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, and its Arts-Parks-Entertainment-Sports Committee, Education Committee, Task Force on Trees, Women Mayors Caucus and Republican Mayors and Local Officials. She served four terms as president of Tennessee Women in Government (TWIG) and is a former district director of the Tennessee Municipal League and former TWIG representative. She is a member and past president of the West Tennessee Mayors Association, a past member of the Municipal Technical Advisory Services Advisory Committee, served five years as a representative to the Memphis Area Association of Governments, and is a graduate of Local Government Leadership Program, a graduate and past trustee of the WestStar Leadership program of West Tennessee and a graduate of Leadership Memphis in 1996 and current member of its board of directors.

She is a member and past president of the University of Memphis Society, a current director and past secretary of the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors, a past director on the board of the Mid-South Council of Girls Scouts, a past member and secretary of the Wolf River Conservancy board of directors and a member of the Conservancy advisory board of trustees. She is president of the Kiwanis Club of Germantown and previously served as president elect, vice president, secretary and director. Her civic involvement includes five terms as a PTA president and two terms as a Shelby County PTA Council officer. She is a member of the Germantown Garden Club, English Meadows Neighborhood Association and League of Women Voters. She is a member of Germantown Presbyterian Church. A native of Kansas, she holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Kansas State University. She and her husband, Jim, have lived in Germantown since 1977. They have an adult daughter, Shannon Goldsworthy.

John Drinnon, owner of John Drinnon Realty in Germantown, was elected Alderman for Position 2 in 1994 and re-elected in 1998 and 2002.

He serves as liaison to the Board of Zoning Appeals, Senior Citizen Advisory Commission, Library Commission and the Economic Development Commission. Alderman Drinnon received his doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Medical Units and he has additional course work in business law, finance and real estate from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and the University of Memphis.

Alderman Drinnon is a member of the Tennessee Municipal League, the Memphis Area Board of Realtors and the Tennessee Association of Realtors. He is a member and past chairman of the board of trustees for Union University. Alderman Drinnon is vice chairman of the board of directors for the Great Southern Corporation and a member of the finance committee at Germantown Baptist Church where he is an active member.

A retired pharmacist and former owner of a retail drug business, Alderman Drinnon has owned and operated his real estate company for 20 years. He and his wife Pat have lived in Germantown since 1973. They have three children, Diane, Steven and David.

Carole Hinely was elected as Alderman for Position 1 in 2002. A Germantown citizen for 26 years, she has two children and two grandchildren and her husband Jim Fegley works for International Paper.

She is an active member of Holy Apostles Episcopal Church and is a volunteer for many organizations and activities including Les Passes, Youth Villages, the 19th Century Club and the Germantown Garden Club.

In her professional career as a full time Realtor Associate she has served the community for 28 years. For the City of Germantown, she has been a member and chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals, a member of the Germantown Neighborhood Task Force and was appointed to the Arts Commission.

As an Alderman, Hinely is the liason to the Commissions of Education, Historical, Public Safety and the Germantown Performing Arts Committee. Alderman Hinely has been a director of the Memphis Area Association of Realtors, Multi-Million Dollar Club and voted Realtor Associate of the Year.

Alderman Frank Uhlhorn was elected alderman in 1994 and is serving his fourth term. He serves on the City Beautification Commission and the Personnel Advisory Commission.

He serves on the Design Review Commission and Personnel Advisory Commission. His past commission activities include serving as the board liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission, work on the Environmental, Animal Control and Historic Commissions and on the board of directors for the Performing Arts Centre.

Alderman Uhlhorn has also served as vice-mayor and on the board of trustees for the Bodine School. Before his election, he served in a civic capacity on the Planning Commission and the Design Review Commission.

He is a member of the board of directors of Landmark Community Bank and Tennessee Municipal League. He is a former two-term member of the Memphis Area Home Builders Association and a former member of Phoenix Club, Germantown Rotary Club and the Dixie Homes Boys Club.

Uhlhorn is the youngest of five siblings and was born and educated in Memphis. He is a Christian Brothers High School and University of Memphis graduate. He and his wife, Grace, are past presidents of the Dogwood Grove Homeowners Association. Alderman Uhlhorn is the owner of Uhlhorn Construction Company, an active Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce business. His wife, a CPA, works as a real estate agent. Germantown residents for 32 years, they have five children, Kip, George and Walker Uhlhorn; and Seth and Todd McNamee.

Mike Palazzolo is serving his first four-year term as Alderman in position 3 and serves as Vice Mayor in 2007. The bank executive was elected Alderman in 2004.

He has lived in the Memphis area most of his life and has called Germantown home since 1977. He has spent the last 20 years in the banking industry serving in various positions including retail, executive, small business, and commercial banking.

He serves as Alderman Liaison to the Economic Development Commission, Financial Advisory Commission, Retirement Benefits Commission, and Youth Commission. He is also a past member of the Planning Commission, Design Review Commission, and Environmental Commission. He currently serves as Treasurer for the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce (GACC) and is a former Chairman of the Board for the GACC in 2000.

Alderman Palazzolo is a member of the following organizations; Liberty Bowl Board of Directors, Tennessee Municipal League, Leadership Germantown Alumni Association, Riggs/Arthur Neighborhood Association, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and Riverdale PTA. He is a 1986 graduate of Rhodes College, a 2002 graduate of the Rhodes Institute for Executive Leadership, and was chosen a Top 40 Under 40 business leader by the Memphis Business Journal in 1998. Alderman Ernest Chism, elected in 2004, is serving his first four-year term in position 5.

He has lived in Germantown since 1974 and is well known as the former Principal of Germantown High School where he served generations of students during his 28 years of service. After 40 years with Shelby County Schools, the long-time principal retired in 2002.

He continues to be an advocate by serving on the Shelby County Schools Board of Education. In addition, he is alderman-liaison to the Beautification, Environmental, Telecommunications and Parks and Recreation Commissions.

He is a member of the Mid-South Fair Board of Directors, Germantown Chamber of Commerce, Germantown United Methodist Church and is also an Al Chymia Shrine member. He and his wife, Alyce, have two children, George and Lee-Ann Kight, four grandchildren and a dog named Maggie.
