Germantown Candidate Forums Scheduled

Hear from school board, mayor and aldermen candidates before you cast your vote on Tuesday, November 6. Two organizations will be hosting forums for open Germantown Municipal School Board and Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen candidates.

On Tuesday, September 18, the Leadership Germantown Alumni Association (LGAA) will host a school board candidate forum beginning at 6 p.m. inside the Council Chambers at Germantown City Hall, 1930 S. Germantown Road. Residents are invited to send their questions for the school board candidates to GMSDForum2018@gmail.com. The moderator, David Pickler, will take questions until September 17. The topics for the school board forum include the role of a board member, board and superintendent relationship, legislative issues, educational priorities for the GMSD budget and GMSD strategic plan.

In addition, LGAA will host a Board of Mayor and Aldermen candidate forum on Thursday, September 27, beginning at 6 p.m., also at City Hall Council Chambers. Submit candidate questions to BMACandidateForum2018@gmail.com. The moderator, Darrell Greene from FOX 13 News, will take questions until September 26. Topics for the Board of Mayor and Aldermen forum include commercial and residential development, apartments and the key performance areas from the Germantown Forward 2030 strategic plan.

A second Board of Mayor and Aldermen candidate forum will take place on Wednesday, October 3, beginning at 6 p.m. inside the auditorium at Houston High School. This forum is sponsored by the Germantown Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with AT&T. Richard Ransom, from Local 24 News, will serve as the moderator for the forum. All candidates for the Germantown Board of Mayor and Aldermen have been invited to participate and the public is encouraged to attend.
