For more than a century, Campbell Clinic has been a leader in orthopaedic care both in Memphis and around the world. Campbell Clinic is a world leader in sports medicine, pediatric orthopaedics, joint replacement, orthopaedic oncology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and surgery of the hand, hip, foot, knee, shoulder, and spine. Founder Dr. Willis C. Campbell opened his first clinic in the Memphis area in 1909. Dr. Campbell’s knowledge and influence ran so deep that he even wrote the first textbook on orthopaedics, Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics, which still continues to be updated and referenced even today.

Campbell Clinic put down roots in Germantown in 1992 when the orthopaedic clinic/physical therapy building on Germantown Road was constructed. To keep up with demand, the surgery center on Brierbrook Road was completed in 2002. The clinic has 280 employees and continues to grow. Campbell projects to hire an additional 185 new employees over the next three years after the construction of the new 120,000 square foot medical office on Wolf River Boulevard is completed.

Campbell Clinic has served as a catalyst for development in Germantown’s blossoming medical corridor. In 1997, the US Census Bureau showed 101 health care and social assistance establishments in Germantown. That number grew significantly in 2015 when 230 medical establishments were reported. The number also continues to grow as more health care facilities and medical offices choose to invest in Germantown’s proven and established medical district. Some medical offices have chosen Germantown, in part, to be within close proximity to Campbell Clinic.

Once Campbell Clinic’s new 120,000 square foot medical office is complete in mid-October, the clinic will have invested approximately $47,300,000 in real and personal property within the community. The new four-story medical facility will be equipped with expanded physical therapy and imaging suites, along with eight new outpatient operating rooms in an ambulatory surgery center. “Campbell Clinic has called Germantown home for more than a quarter-century, and our new construction project on Wolf River Boulevard cements our commitment to this community for many years to come," said Campbell Clinic CEO George Hernandez. "We’re honored to be part of a thriving medical corridor and our new outpatient orthopaedic center will help patients from around the region continue to access quality musculoskeletal care right here in Germantown,” Hernadez added.
