Germantown to Begin Routine Hydrant Flushing Program
Post Date:09/29/2025 9:00 AM
The City of Germantown will begin its routine fire hydrant flushing program on Monday, October 6. Rogers Hydrant Service will conduct the program, starting in the northeast part of the city and systematically working through all areas. Flushing will take place Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fire hydrant flushing is required by the Public Works and Fire Departments to maintain the city’s water distribution system. The program also allows staff to test and evaluate the condition of nearly 3,000 fire hydrants throughout Germantown and ensures compliance with Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation and ISO standards.
Some residents may notice brief water discoloration or slight pressure fluctuations while flushing occurs in their area. If this happens, Public Works advises running the cold water tap for a few minutes until the water clears. Discoloration will resolve as crews move to new areas.
Questions about the program can be directed to Germantown Public Works at (901) 757-7350.
