Residents in the Farmington Boulevard, Sonning Drive and Brierbook Road areas may notice utility markings and small holes near curbs as Socket Fiber begins installing new fiber-optic infrastructure. 

Over the coming days, crews will use colored 811 utility markings to identify existing underground utilities.  Residents may also see small holes dug near the curb in work areas. This process, know as "potholing," is a standard safety procedure used to locate existing gas, water and sewer lines before fiber installation begins.

Once the existing utilities have been located, the holes will be filled and the work area will be restored. Under City ordinance, contractors are required to restore all areas disturbed by construction to their original condition or better.
