Kanopy is a free service for those that have an active Germantown library card.

Getting started

1. Click the link above or visit www.kanopy.com in a supported browser.

2. Select Get Started

3. Select Find your library.

4. To find a library near you, share your location when prompted or search for your library by name, city, or zip code. Select your library's name from the list or map, then click Select this library.

5. Enter your library card number and PIN or password (if required by your library). Then, select Continue.

6. Create your Kanopy account:

• Enter your name, email address, and password, then select Sign up.

• Or, sign up with an existing Apple or Google account by selecting Sign Up with Apple or Sign Up with Google and following the instructions.

What is Kanopy?

Kanopy is the best video streaming service for quality, thoughtful entertainment. Find movies, documentaries, foreign films, classic cinema, independent films and educational videos that inspire, enrich and entertain. We partner with public libraries to bring you an ad-free experience that can be enjoyed on your TV, mobile phones, tablets and online.

Why do I need a library card to sign up?

Kanopy is only available through libraries, so you need to be a member of a participating library to start watching Kanopy.

If you are a member of a participating public library, you can start watching by signing up with a valid public library card number and PIN/password.

How do I get started?

Click the link above and follow the simple instructions to create your Kanopy account using your email address or Google login and then start watching.

What is Kanopy Kids?

Kanopy Kids is our collection of movies and shows for kids available in public libraries only. Your public library offers unlimited plays in Kanopy Kids, so your kids are free to explore enriching, educational and entertaining films and TV series.

What are tickets?

Tickets are used to play videos on Kanopy. Each month, you will receive 15 tickets. Your tickets reset on the first day of the month, and unused tickets don't roll over to the next month. As you browse for titles, you'll see the number of tickets required to watch each title and how long you have to watch it.

Why does this Season have more ticket requirements to view than this other season?

The ticket requirement is based on the length of the program or season and the ticket cost is based on how long the viewer will be watching.

Can I use this with my Apple TV, Roku, or Fire TV? 

Yes, you will need to download the app to your device and then link your account.
