The Germantown Police Department is proud to offer the Special Needs Safety Information Program—exclusively for Germantown residents. This voluntary initiative is designed to help first responders provide safe and informed assistance during emergencies involving residents with special needs.

This program allows parents, guardians or caregivers to share key information about individuals who may have difficulty communicating or responding to public safety personnel. By having this information available in advance, first responders can better understand and address the unique needs of those they serve.

Who the program is for

This program is intended for Germantown residents of any age who may have:

  • Autism

  • Alzheimer’s or dementia

  • Intellectual or developmental disabilities

  • Visual or hearing impairments

  • Other conditions that affect communication, behavior or awareness

Participation is completely voluntary and designed solely to improve emergency response.

How it works

A parent, guardian or caregiver fills out a brief online form with details such as:

  • The individual’s name, age and physical description
  • Germantown home address and contact numbers
  • Up to two emergency contacts
  • Any relevant medical needs, behaviors or communication preferences

A Germantown Police officer will review the submission before it is added to the program.

Important Note: Only Germantown residents are eligible to participate. Addresses outside city limits will not be accepted.

Why it matters

In high-stress or time-sensitive situations, having access to helpful background information can lead to quicker resolutions, safer outcomes and more compassionate care. This program is another way the Germantown Police Department supports the safety and well-being of every resident.

Privacy and Security

All submitted information is securely stored in the City’s 911 Communications Center and accessed only by authorized Germantown public safety personnel—including police, fire and dispatch—during emergency situations. All submitted information is kept confidential and used exclusively by Germantown public safety personnel to support appropriate emergency response efforts.
