Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t I register yet?
Your portal access begins after your new meter is installed and verified. If you haven’t received an invitation email, you’ll get one when your meter is ready.

What if I lose my account info?
Use the “Forgot Username” or “Forgot Password” links on the portal login page.

Will this replace my paper bill?
Unless you have opted into paperless billing you’ll still receive a printed bill in the mail. The portal is an added tool for monitoring usage.

Is my data secure?
Yes. The portal uses secure, encrypted data transmission.

What is the Smart Water Meter Portal?
The portal is a secure online tool that lets you view your water usage in near–real time. It shows hourly, daily and monthly usage, lets you download usage data and lets you set alerts so you’re notified of unusual use or possible leaks.

Why should I sign up?
See accurate, up-to-date usage so you know what’s happening before you get your bill. Catch leaks early with proactive alerts. Manage notifications (email, text, phone). Download usage for your records or to track irrigation, pools, etc.

Overall: it helps you avoid surprises and conserve water.

How often is the data updated?
Data is provided in near–real time and can be viewed in daily or monthly formats in the portal. You can hover over chart bars for details and download the underlying data as Excel files or images.

How do alerts and notifications work?
In the portal you can: Enter email and phone numbers for alerts (SMS and automated phone calls are supported).

Set time windows for when you want to receive phone calls or texts.

Choose which alert types you want (conservation tips, leak alerts, service notices, unusual usage alerts).

Set snooze days to avoid repeated messages in short succession.

Some alerts let you enter additional parameters. Hover over the info icon in the portal for a full description of each alert type.

What if I see unusually high usage or a leak alert?
Check inside the house — toilets, faucets, washing machines.
Check irrigation systems and outdoor hoses.
Turn off irrigation or suspected problem sources if safe to do so.
If you can’t locate the source, call customer service so staff can advise or send a crew to inspect.
Saving a sample of your hourly usage (downloadable from the portal) helps our team diagnose the issue faster.

How accurate are the readings?
The new meters transmit readings via radio frequency to data collectors on the City’s water towers and civil-defense siren poles. That automated system provides more accurate, frequent readings than manual reads and supports leak detection and better billing accuracy.

My portal shows different data than my bill, why?
Portal data updates more frequently and shows near-real-time consumption, while your bill reflects meter reads and billing calculations for a fixed billing period. If you believe the billed amount is incorrect, contact Utility Billing and we’ll review the meter history and investigate.
