Per City of Germantown Ordinance, all waste containers must be stored behind the front line of the home and should not be visible from the street.
Residents who would like to change their sanitation pick up preference may contact Neighborhood Services at NeighborhoodServices@Germantown-TN.gov or (901) 757-7263.
Construction debris generated by the resident is limited to one cubic yard (size of a washing machine) per collection day (wood, landscaping timbers, fencing, decking, cabinets, carpet, flooring, siding, etc.) that will be collected at no charge. For quantities larger than one-cubic yard, contact Neighborhood Services at (901) 757-7263 to arrange for a cost estimate for pick-up by Waste Pro.
Removal of contractor-generated construction debris is the responsibility of the contractor/homeowner.
Items containing refrigerants such as refrigerators, freezers and air conditioners require certification from a licensed technician stating that the refrigerant has been removed. Once certified and tagged, state law requires doors be removed before refrigerators and freezers are placed at the curb for pickup. Email NeighborhoodServices@Germantown-TN.gov or call (901) 757-7263 to alert of large item pick-up.
Please Note: there is a limit for bulk items of five (5) cubic yards that can be placed at the curb per week.
Do not mix furniture, construction debris, landscape timbers, household garbage or other bulky items with yard debris. To assist with collection, email NeighborhoodServices@Germantown-TN.gov to order pick-up of large items.
Sand, dirt, mulch, gravel, concrete, bricks, stone, sawdust, steel, steel poles, tile, auto parts, roofing, shingles, glass, mirrors and lawn mowers are not collected at the curb. These items are accepted at Germantown's semi-annual Amnesty Dumpster Day event.
Homeowners are responsible for properly disposing of medical waste including syringes.
